寿司大

back from japan, this is the omakase set at the legendary 寿司大 at tsukiji market. i had to wake up at 4am to get the first train to come and queue. alone, because zuoen didn't want to wake up first.
after 1.5 hours waiting in the cold, finally at the door.
chuutoro. a semi-fatty tuna that already melted in my mouth.
a miso soup that had fish roe in it. zuoen's one didn't have. yay
flounder
red snapper
uni. which zuoen says is very good here because it is absolutely fresh.
akami. this is a tuna marinated in soy sauce.
sweet egg roll, which i normally don't like. but this one came piping hot so it was nice.
hokkigai. some clam thingy? it was moving when the chef placed it in front of us.
horse mackerel
some gunkan sushi. i think its tuna, and shellfish
shiro ebi. these were tiny tiny shrimps that looked almost like the rice
spanish mackerel
sea eel
and the last one that was our own choice. ootoro - the fattiest tuna belly. and it is true that in winter the tuna is much fatter.
and we added just one more. ankimo, liver of the monkfish, said to be the foie gras of the sea. so the omakase was JPY3900. expensive, but so worth it.
